Tired Driveways Brought Back to Life With Driveway Restorers

Question 1

Answer

Restoration is usually priced by the square metre, and the rate depends on the surface, how dirty it is, and how much of the full treatment it needs. A straightforward clean costs far less than a clean, re-sand, and seal. Oil stains, heavy moss, and sunken blocks all add to it. Every driveway is different, so we give a clear, itemised quote after a free visit, with no obligation and no surprises. See what affects the cost of restoring a driveway, or request a free quote.

Question 2

Answer

Not when it is done properly. The damage people worry about comes from a lance held too close, which can etch the surface and blast the sand out of the joints. We use a rotary surface cleaner at the right pressure for the surface, then put fresh kiln-dried sand back into the joints and seal it, so the paving ends up better protected than it started.

Question 3

Answer

The sand in the joints is what locks block paving together. A deep clean washes some of it out, and years of weather will have taken more. Topping the joints back up with kiln-dried sand keeps the blocks tight, stops them moving, and leaves less room for weeds to root. Skipping this step is the most common shortcut in driveway cleaning.

Question 4

Answer

For block paving, usually yes. A joint-stabilising sealer hardens the sand so it stays put, makes it much harder for weeds to take hold, and makes oil and dirt easier to clean off. It can also bring back some of the original colour. We will tell you honestly if your surface does not need it.

Question 5

Answer

Most domestic driveways are cleaned and re-sanded in a day. Sealing needs the surface to be completely dry first, so it is usually applied a day or two later, weather permitting. You can walk on it the same day and drive on it once the sealer has cured, which we will confirm on the day.

Question 6

Answer

Fresh oil stains usually come out well with the right treatment. Old stains that have soaked in for years often fade a long way but may not disappear completely, especially on porous concrete. We will look at the stain before quoting and tell you honestly what to expect.

Question 7

Answer

Yes. Sandstone is softer than it looks, and blasting it at high pressure can strip the surface and open up the stone. We soft wash sandstone and limestone with a low-pressure treatment that deals with the black spots and lichen, and use careful pressure cleaning only on harder surfaces like porcelain and concrete.

Question 8

Question 10

Answer

Send us a few details: the rough size of the area, the surface, and what is bothering you about it, whether that is weeds, moss, stains, or faded colour. A couple of photos help. We will arrange a free visit if needed and give you a clear, no-obligation quote. Contact us here.
